Music ID tags in external player not displaying [Resolved]

I have subsonic set up on my windows home server v1 and it's streams well and without error.. the only annoyance is that sometimes when winamp loads the song from my subsonic server the ID3 tag reading times out or something and all it will say in a now playing (in winamp, subsonic still works fine there) is something like "stream?player=3&pathUtf8Hex=443a5c7368617265735c4d757369635c536f756e64747261636b735c54562026204d6f7669655c283230303729204d722e2042726f6f6b735c3033202d2052656772657473206f6620616e204172746973742e6d7033" instead of what it's supposed to be "Ramin Djawadi - Regrets of an Artist". Now the playlist view of whenever I download the playlist from subsonic works fine, all the ID3 tags are there and none are missing. When ever this "error" happens, it'll also replace the entry in the winamp playlist with that above junk.

Streaming works without error, no hitches or anything like that, but this is just a minor annoyance. If an interesting song comes on, I have to go through subsonic to see what it is. This is when I'm streaming from work, I haven't tested it locally since I have all the music on my harddrive at home.

Also having a problem with getting the video to stream.. but thats another thread. Thanks :)

With regard to winamp try using "external with playlist option" within SS.
That seems to correctly show all the relevant tags for me.

That is the option I am using and it does show the correct tags in the list.. but every once in awhile winamp will show that stream mess when winamp has to connect to the SS server to get the file info and all for the next song to play and then it replaces the entry in winamp playlist with that stream mess. Odd thing is it's only on a few files. Is it some type of timeout or something? Maybe it's winamp's fault and theres some obscure setting that needs to be increased.

Hmm I just realised that my transcode settings are not quite standard.
Try
Code: Select all
ffmpeg -i %s -ab %bk -v 0 -f mp3 -map_meta_data 0:0 -

and see if that helps.

Mind if I ask how that differs from the default?

I think that change did it. I'll still do some more testing today and see how it is. Thanks a lot

Edit: So far so good, I'm even getting the track lengths in the popup on the bottom right of my screen (skin specific to winamp). Marking it as resolved, I'll reopen within the next day if I have issues.

I'm having this problem when streaming M4A files. Where exactly did you make the change to the transcode string? I see Step 1 and Step 2 in the transcode settings. Which should I edit? And for M4A or AAC or both?

Not sure if you're still looking at this or not, but I made the change in Settings -> Transcoding, under the mp3 audio and Downsample Command lists.

Just add it after the "mp3" and make sure you have a "-" at the end
