Can not get video to stream [Resolved]

No matter what setting I put it on in the drop down box while trying to view video in subsonic all I get is the jwplayer with a "Play" button in the center of the window. Nothing happens when I click that button, I don't even get a preview pic of the video behind the "|>" button. I've tried all the bandwidth settings and I still can't stream video away from home. Music streaming works fine except for the occasional ID3 tag mishap that I mentioned in another thread.
Internet speeds shouldn't be a problem, I tested it last night and I have +30mb/s down and +5mb/s up. Here at work it's a "high speed" DSL that seems to top out at ~3mb/s down. Any ideas whats going on?

Anything in the SS log file to indicate a problem?

Is all I'm getting but nothing comes up. Is it possible to have separate bit rate limits for audio and video? 192kbps for video is probably going to look horrible.
In winamp the video file just shows the location of it in a hex string on my server but nothing plays.

Was that log from trying to play using an external player or the web browser?
I cannot see any transcoding going on

I tried it both with transcoding and not transcoding.. it just sits there with the rotating "working" circle and never shows video.
[5/22/12 9:43:53 AM EDT] DEBUG TranscodeInputStream Starting transcoder: [c:\subsonic\transcode\ffmpeg] [-ss] [0] [-i] [D:\shares\Videos\American Dad\Season 1\102 - Threat Levels.avi] [-async] [1] [-b] [1000k] [-s] [480x360] [-ar] [44100] [-ac] [2] [-v] [0] [-f] [flv] [-vcodec] [libx264] [-preset] [superfast] [-threads] [0] [-]
Tried it with the built-in player and that's all I ever get. The video window shows with the |> icon but when I click it it goes away for half a second and acts like it's going to play but then comes right back again.

Try playing a flv file in the web browser - that should play natively.

Send me a pm if you want to test video from my site. We can then determine if it's your server or something at your worksite that's blocking the video.

Wow.. it is DEFINATELY with my server.. I just picked the first thing which was kung fu panda and it played just fine after like 5 sec of buffering.
Mine doesn't even get to that point, it shows the player and either just infintely loops the "working" circle or wont let you play it. You'll click play and then half a second later it'll show up again with the background still black.

What are the hardware specs on your server? What OS? Whcih SS ver.?
You should have gone for the gusto and tried Casino Royale - Blue Ray rip, or the fighter pilot video.

I've attached a CPU-Z report that details all of it but for the skinny:
OS: Windows Home Server (Probably shows up at Windows Server 2003)
CPU: AMD Phenom II x4 925 quad core
MB: ASUSTeK M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3
RAM: 4GB DDR3
Onboard graphics with a memory size of 700MB
Subsonic:
Version 4.6 (build 2583) – December 6, 2011
Server jetty-6.1.x, java 1.6.0_32, Windows 2003 (65.2 MB / 154.1 MB)
Memory limit from the systray icon: 200MB
No error messages in the window.
Edit: Streaming works fine from home.

Your specs are reasonable as long as you don't push the resolution too high. RDC into the server while your running a video and open task manager to monitor your CPU loads while watching various videos to see where it starts to choke. Your probably OK up to around 720p but 1080i or Blue Ray is probably a reach.
Also run a good bandwidth test from speedtest.net. If your in the US try connecting to Clifton, NJ as it has a low ping time and very stable test results. Pay particular attention to the upload speeds you get. That will tell you the upper bound of what your able to send out. Desktop video set at 5000kbps going out is ok if you have 7-10mbps service, but you'll be in trouble if you only have 1mbps service going out.
It's all about getting a good handle on what your hardware and connection speed can realistically manage before hitting a bottleneck.

I did a speedtest from speedtest.net and I was getting 30mb/s down and 5mb/s up. It starts to choke as soon as you try to play the video. I don't get anything on the screen except that black screen with the play button on it. I've sent you a PM so you can see it for yourself. Thanks

Alright, after a bit of troubleshooting with GJ51 we figured out it was the office that was sniffing and blocking it. Enabling SSL on my server and setting up port forward solved the problem. Thanks a lot GJ51
