Playlist is disappearing from android player?

Problem Description: When playback is paused for long enough for screen to blacken, when I go back to subsonic and touch the 'play' button, nothing plays. When I go to playlist, it is empty.
Troubleshooting Steps: I have to reopen album?
Playback Application and version: Android, up-to-date in play-market.
Subsonic Version: Version 4.4 (build 2169) – February 6, 2011
Server Version: (Server jetty-6.1.x, java 1.6.0_20, Linux (169.2 MB / 290.0 MB)
Hardware Platform: (Server is Lubuntu)
Java Memory Limit: (not server error)
Problem Filename: (ALL files)

This seems to be a problem of how subsonic saves its state when android moves it out of RAM? I am not playing a saved "playlist", typical case is when I hit "random", open an album, and hit the Play button, thereby adding album to the current playlist (as seen on far right tab), and need to pause midway through album playback. Is there a work-a-round for this?
