Unable add new music to library [Resolved]

Postby Matto » Fri May 25, 2012 4:50 am

I've been using Subsonic for a couple years now, and have not had this problem until I recently installed WHS 2011. It seems no matter what I do I am unable to add new music to my library without a whole restart of my machine. I've tried removing the folder, rescanning, adding it back, than rescanning again, with no luck. I tried to stop and start the service with no luck. When I am able to get new music added, I'm not even sure what happened to make it recognize it. Some music I still have not been able to add to my library at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, all the music is stored locally, no remote drives are being accessed.

Check that the user a/c that SS is running under has got read/write permissions for the folders.
You may need to change it (or create) another a/c that has.
Also what format are you using to add the media folders? is it d:\shares\music or something similiar or UNC pathnames?

I've confirmed that my user account has read/write permissions to all the folders.
The media folders are pointed to the folders with just the drive letter and folder (F:\music), no UNC pathname.

This is really annoying, I have music I added over a month ago that still won't show up in the library, and other stuff added last week that is available.

After playing around with this some more it appears to have to do with my pooled drive. When I create a folder on my install drive, SubSonic has no problem adding the music there to my library.
I am currently using Drive Bender to manage my pool. I looked around in the settings there and didn't see anything that looked like it may solve this issue though.

I would suggest posting over in the drivebender forums and see if anyone there has a solution.
I know SS does have problem with mapped drives (eg doesn't work :( )
So it may have something to do with how DB is creating the pool.
(You could always revert back to WHS r1 - drive extender works fine :D )

Edit: So drivebender appears to work ok

Well I added some new music to my library for the first time since playing around with it a couple weeks ago, and it showed right up in my SubSonic library right away :D

I had updated Drivebender to the newest version and changed a setting related to streaming media files, seems to have solved it! (I'm sure it was older version I was running, I know better than not updating my software :| )

Thanks for the help!!
