Subsonic can't find LAME in Linux

I'm running Ubuntu 7.10 Server. Everything runs great, except whenever I see a screen in Subsonic that has a reference to bitrate conversion, I see the notice "Notice: LAME does not seem to be installed.
Click Help button for more information.". I have the lame zip extracted to the /transcoder directory and I've even installed Lame from the repositories. What else should I do?

Thanks,

BL

Ahhah! Since subsonic was looking for the linux lame file lame (that's it) I did a search for it and foudn it in /usr/bin/. I copied it to the transcode folder and it works.

I would suggest having an option to run the lame coded from its default location or include instructions to copy it to the transcode directory
