Hi,

<-------------------------Subsonic Help Request---------------------->

Problem Description: I've juste bought Subsonic by donating and I installed it on my Ubuntu server. I've forward the 4040 port on my router and I can access the subsonic instance from anywhere. But sometimes (most of the time) it's not working right now. I need to connect and reconnect to make it work. The thing that I can't understand it's that my coworker at work is able to connect to the server and sometimes I get kick and sometimes he gets kick. Then I can reconnect after 30min maybe. IT'S TOTALLY INTERMITTENT.

Troubleshooting Steps:
- Search into forums to find a way to get this to work.
- Post into this forum.

Playback Application and version: Last stable version, I think 4.6
Hardware Platform: Ubuntu 12
Java Memory Limit: Where it is in ubuntu ?
Last ten log file lines: I can't access my logs.

<-------------------------Subsonic Help Request---------------------->

YOU CAN ACCESS MY SERVER HERE : http://216.218.61.134:4040 or here : musixplore.ca/musique

Many thanks to the developper of this wonderful and powerful tool, i guess when it'll be fixed haha !

I don't see the logon page.

Is this happening only from outside the network or do you have issues on the local network as well?

It's only an issue outside the network, at home I get no trouble at all !

Thanks !

EDIT : Currently my coworker his still on the server listening to music.
EDIT : Right now I can go on it, it's really intermittent !

This is most often due to packet inspection services on workplace networks designed to block media streaming to minimize bandwidth on the company network. You can usually get around this by setting up SSL on your server so that the company firwall cannot read the encrypted stream.

Thanks for the reply,

I found this tutorial but it seems hard for me to set up.

http://www.ehow.com/how_5954309_enable-ssl-ubuntu.html

Do you have something easier to recommend considering that I'm on Ubuntu for 2 weeks right now ! I've just started to do little easy thing like changing the permissions on a folder and deleting a folder.

Thanks.

I didn't read to see what install you are using, but I switched from the full build to the Standalone server. This works much better and easier to maintain on the backend. Also, there is only one place that you need to change the option of SSL and that is in the subsonic.sh startup script.

I don't remember much else, but after running the tomcat war version for years... this is MUCH better.

Hope this helps.

You could always ask your employer to disable packet screening.

SOLVED ANSWER HERE !

Nothing had to deal with the https. By the way I've never been able to make it accessible from outside the network on the port 4443.

Well I solved my problem by commenting the line of the java memory limit like this :

# blablabla

in the terminal write this :

gksudo gedit etc/default/subsonic

In this document comment the line said above and that's it !

Hmm... So you don't have the limit set? That probably isn't the problem. The problem is probably the way that line is configured. Do you mind posting it?
