Accessing server over internet trouble

I wish to access my server over the internet but I receive this error

Status: blank.subsonic.org is registered, but could not connect to it. (ConnectTimeoutException)

I am currently at school and so I cannot "Automatically configure your router to allow incoming connections to Subsonic (using UPnP or NAT-PMP port forwarding)" and receive the following error:

Status: No router found.

Are there any workarounds or perhaps any free alternatives around this? I would love to travel around and be able to listen to my entire collection on my phone!

Thanks for any help!

If I am understanding you correctly you are trying to use your school internet to host your subsonic server.
Unless they allow/give you an open port then it will not be possible. I suggest you contact and ask nicely your IT dept.

That's precisely it, I'll definitely ask them but it seems like a slim chance.

Any other alternatives? Do any other college and uni students struggle with this? I saw the "subsonic free hosting" topic but seeing as that site seems completely dead, wondering if there are any other more long term free options.

It's locked down tight, I'm afraid..no ping responses to begin an nmap test for open ports (which I think are slim and none). I think your best bet is a friend off-campus, who doesn't mind a puter on 24/7, physical access to said computer, and remote in with Teamviewer or similar, or paid hosting. :|
