4.7.beta2 Bugs

Here is a list of issues I've discovered with the latest Beta so far:

- I lost my playlists! This actually really sucked, I had been creating a 'best of' playlist for the last year or so and now it's gone. The new playlist management does look much better though, it always annoyed me that adding a song to a playlist reloaded everything and messed up the currently playing song (in browser Flash player).

- The directories are sorted by some weird order, possibly by modification date/ album year? Unticking 'year' from the Personal Settings -> Browse options does nothing, the year is still displayed when browsing.

- The new star system is good but the one thing I realllly wanted, was an option to display the 5 star rating in the Browse list as well. That way you could see all the star ratings as you browse.

- Clicking the "Shared Media" link in the Settings gives an error report

If anyone else sees any new bugs, perhaps you could post them here so we have them all in one place.

Looking forward to the final 2.7 release!

Also:

- Updating album covers doesn't seem to work. It updates it in the Now Playing window but not in the Album view. This may be just not reloading/updating the cached image.

I use Media Monkey on a client whereas my music is hosted on a server with Subsonic so I can listen to it remotely. Now I can make 5-star ratings in MM but where are the star ratings in Subsonic that you mentioned?

MM stores it ratings in the POPM tag (for mp3s) and is common to all users.
SS stores its rating in the database and does not read or write to that tag (at the moment)
However SS is a rating per user and not common.

I didn't have this problem with the playlists, mine survived the upgrade. However, just to be safe I always back up my C:\Subsonic folder before updating Subsonic as I have a similar "best of" project going on that I'd hate to lose.

I noticed this too. Right after Subsonic finished its initial indexing after the update, the album directories were displayed out of order and it didn't seem to follow any pattern. It did fix itself after some time though, my directories are now displayed in the proper order by year, though you can't choose ascending or descending (it's displayed in descending).

A huge issue I'm having is it seems the playlist functionality is broken. For example, the ability to load playlists from the server is no longer available. When you when you click the "import playlist" link you are prompted with a browse window for your local machine (all the playlists are on the server). I listen from work regularly and no longer have access to my playlists since they are on the server.

Along those same lines, when you are in an album and try to add songs to a playlist, a new "add to playlist" window opens up allowing you to choose which playlist(s) you want to add the songs to. The problem is, none of my playlists show up, even though they are all still in the C:\Subsonic\Playlists folder.

There used to be an area in the settings menu which allowed you to administer the playlists, particularly where they should be stored on the server. This is no longer available.

Additionally, when you open an album the navigation buttons at the bottom are now backwards, i.e., the left arrow points to the newer album, while the right arrow points to the older album. Previously it was (correctly) the opposite of this.

The arrows are correct in that the left arrow goes up the sort and right goes down.
Don't forget the albums are now listed in descending date order (4.7b2).

Hopefully the next release will address the playlist issue as SS will auto import the playlists, which I assume will be from a designated folder aka 4.6

That is confirmed. The beta 3 has an "Import Playlist" function.

Cool, so maybe my playlists aren't lost after all!

I figured out the sorting order, it is by Year first, then Modified date I think (oldest @ top).

So I don't have to worry that Subsonic overwrites my ratings from MediaMonkey? Otherwise, that would become a disaster! I am using Subsonic 4.7 beta 3.

Unless you edit the tags within SS, SS does not write ANY data to your ID tags so the answer is yes.
