Playlists in 4.7b2?

I'm a long-time Subsonic user and decided to try 4.7b2 today. Everything seems fine except that I haven't quite figured out the new playlist-handling mechanism and am not sure whether it's going to be compatible with my somewhat unique needs.

I run a custom-written script that automatically creates new playlists for me every day and deposits them in a dedicated folder. I used to be able to just use the dropdown menu to "load" any of those playlists when using the web client, and they were easily accessible via the android app as well. No manual step was ever required to see these new unique playlists every day.

It appears to me that there's a now manual 'import' feature and my reading here in the forums indicates that a 'batch' import will be available in the final 4.7 release. But if I have to manually import my playlists, even in batch mode, it's going to completely defeat the until-now fully automatic updates I've always enjoyed.

Am I misunderstanding how this is intended to work?

From Sindre's TO-DO List

DONE IN 4.7
-------------
Don't display "null" as artist in now playing.
Fixed crash on Java 7 caused by wrong sorting implementation.
Added Settings > General > Sort albums by year
Try with different encodings when importing playlists.
Admins should be able to manage all playlists (that is visible to them)
Use "album artist" tag if present.
Updated Slovenian translation, courtesy of Jan Jamšek
Automatically import all playlists on start-up.
Show all playlist metadata.
Fixed problem with no files being showed if removing and re-adding a media folder with scans in between.
Added "Settings > Media folders > Clean-up database"

Thank you, I didn't/don't know where to locate the TO-DO list. It does sound like 'auto import' will help me achieve what I need, presuming that one can once again specify a playlist folder location as in 4.6 and before.

I notice that when I regenerated a particular playlist (i.e., same name but different contents) and re-imported it, a second entry having the same name is simply appended to the list of Playlists in the left-hand panel. I can delete the original entry manually, of course. But now I'm wondering whether the plan is for the list of playlists to be dynamically generated, for example when the daily media refresh occurs? That is, if a playlist is regenerated with the same name then the entry would remain but index the new contents; whereas if the m3u is deleted then the entry would disappear entirely.

Thanks again to the community for their help.

Hmm! I just thought of something  - importing playlists on start-up only could be a problem for people (like me)
whose server is running 24/7. I think it also needs a time refresh, eg same time as media scan, to import/ refresh.

I think a timed export would be useful too - for sharing playlists made in subsonic with other apps...
