Sharing music on Subsonic

I am not able to share music over the internet with users not on my network. I have assigned a name to my server prabodh.subsonic.org. I am able to access my music from my Roku box over my home wireless network using the server name. I am also able to access my server from other computers on my home network with the browser. I have assigned a username and password to those wishing to access my music. I do not know what I am missing here, are there some specific steps I have to take to allow sharing?

I realize this post is a month old but have you forwarded the correct ports for subsonic in your router?

Are you still having problems? If so please provide more information on your network setup. Thanks.

Under Network, I have checked 'Automatically configure your router to allow incoming connections to Subsonic (using UPnP or NAT-PMP port forwarding)' and under Status it says 'Succesfully forwarding port 8080.

When you hit save in settings/network do you get "Status: Successfully registered web address. "
under yourname.subsonic.org address field?
If you don't you will have to manually forward the port in your router.

If you are comfortable with doing so, login to your router and check the settings for forwarding port 8080 (or whatever your ss server is running on) to your server IP address.

Depending on how your router works, you may need to statically set your IP address on your server or the port forwarding will stop working when your DHCP IP address changes.

If you don't know how, let us know what model router you have and we'll try to help you (google search)...

Hopefully this works for you,

1.) Navigate to http://192.168.1.1
2.) For default settings leave user name blank and enter a password of admin.
3.) Download your manual http://belkashop.com.ua/products_files/WRT160N_ug.pdf
4.) Page 8, follow directions for "DHCP Reservation". Look for the name of your PC/Server and click add client. Note the current IP address.
5.) Go to page 19 and follow the directions for "Applications and Gaming > Single Port Forwarding". Use port 8080 and forward to your IP address noted in step 4.

DHCP hands out IP addresses to computers on a network. Sometimes it gives out different addresses so step 4 reserves the same IP every time so forwarding will continue to work.

I followed your instructions and the sharing was still not working. I rechecked to see if my web address had been registered. When I hit Save, it told me that the web address had been succesfully registered but could not connect to it. I then realized that the configuration of my equipment was modem/Vonage device/wireless router. I changed the order to modem/wireless router/Vonage device and everything is now working fine. This is an excellent piece of software, many thanks for your efforts and help.
