Import Ratings?

Hello:

I'm new to Subsonic, but liking it thus far. As such, I've got what I'm assuming is a newbish question: how do I get subsonic to read my rating tag?

The ratings for my current music is stored in the ID3 tag as a "RATING" field, and I'd like to populate whatever database Subsonic is using for ratings.

Ideally I'd like Subsonic to write these tags back, but from perusing the forum, I understand that is an issue that there's still some design questions about.

Anyhow, can anyone help me with my one time import while I noodle with the software?

Thanks,

-e-

Ratings are usually stored in POPM tag with ID3.2 but different media players utilize it in different (and quite often non-standard) ways.
However SS, at present, does not use that tag, and 4.6 stable and 4.7 beta have a totally different approach to rating.
If you are using 4.7 then it may be possible to write a script to read the popm tag and transfer to the track star rating for a particular user but that is way above my pay scale :D

did a solution for this ever come about? After having to re-install subsonic and loose all my ratings it now seems silly to store it in some proprietary form when the rest of the world already successfully uses ID3 tags which live with the file. At least for me, the issue of different users having different ratings is moot. if another user wants to select favorites they can still star or make playlists.
