How to limit upload bandwith?

Hi!

I have only one problem with Subsonic, but it's pretty annoying. When I'm streming music from my Ubuntu server, my SSH connection is lagging very much. Lagging ends when song has been buffered and begins when I change next track. I have set all bandwith limits to 30kbp/s (I have 24/1M connection), but it doesn't help. Is there anything I can do to remove that lag?

Thanks!

EDIT: I have Subsonic 4.7 beta 2 installed and I had this problem with 4.6 too.

EDIT: My connection keeps lagging because Subsonic eats all my upload bandwith. How can I set (working) limit for it?

I use http for Subsonic. But terminal connection over SSH is lagging very much. I made some tests with iStat and it shows that the upload limiter doesn't work as I expected. It uses all my upload bandwith, even though I have set all limits to 30kbp/s. How can I really limit Subsonic's bandwith usage?
