Better Playlist Exporting

Postby Kirk » Fri Aug 06, 2010 11:59 pm

At present, if I want to backup my Subsonic playlist, I have to open /var/playlists and copy the file out of there. I have two Subsonic servers, one at home and one my friend maintains. I'd love to be able to import the playlist over there. I wouldn't think it'd be difficult because the music is actually in the same folder on both servers, but after looking at how the playlists are structured I see why it can't be done.

I'd like to see some kind of exportable and importable playlists that could be moved from one Subsonic server to another.

Alternatively (or additionally) it'd be nice to be able to easily save a plain text list, maybe "Artist - Title" or "Artist - Title (Album)" of your songs for a quick backup.

I have a 15 hour playlist that I always add to. :D However actually backing it up and keeping it synced between the two Subsonic servers I use is sometimes irritating because I have to basically sit there and scroll down the playlist on the web interface, and remake my modifications on the other server even though the paths should be the same.

I can understand why "modular" playlists would be difficult due to the possibility of differences in the two music collections, which is why I think a txt file export or csv export option would be fantastic.

Cheers,
Kirk
