Authentification against mysql database

I´m running subsonic in a ssl/password protected environment where apache checks authentification against an mysl table (username, userpass).
It would be very nice if user could access subsonic via a http_auth mechanism and would be automatic generated in the subsonic-db with pre-defined rights.
Any suggestions how to achieve this?
