[REQ] [Android] Cached files playlist

Postby toekneebullard » Thu Jan 20, 2011 9:43 pm

I think it would be nice to have a way to find and play the songs that are cached on your device. That way if you're near your bandwidth cap, or you're somewhere that you can't get a connection, you can just pull up those songs.

I agree! It's hard to keep track of what is cached or not right now. For example if you're planning what music to bring when you go abroad and also if you want to free up space on your SD card.

The standard Android Music app should index the Subsonic cache location and allow you to play it normally

You mean the cache location should show up as a separate folder that can be choosen in the Android app? It doesn't for me. The only way to see what's cached offline is to switch to offline mode and then browse.

Not the Andoid Subsonic app, the Android MUSIC app.

Open the standard music app on your phone, and your locally cached Subsonic music should appear there.

If it does not, there is a free app called "rescan media" which forces the Android Music Player to research for music on your phone and index it.

So if you are really at your bandwidth cap, you have two options:

1. Subsonic in offline mode
2. Android Music App

Aha, I'm with you. Good suggestion!

Otherwise my idea was not so bad either - that you're able to choose a folder with the cached music on the Music library page. But I guess that's a feature post.

When you are in offline mode, you will be browsing the cached folder only so the feature is already there
