Album name in place of (Subsonic) in external player

Postby Concept211 » Fri Aug 22, 2008 1:18 pm

It would be nice to include the album name when playing music via an external player like WinAmp or WMP instead of the "(Subsonic)" label. So the player would display like:

Artist - Title (Album)

What would be even nicer would be if we could specify our own mask of how to display this so that we could include other properties as well such as "track number", "year", etc.

Just some thoughts

I too would like this capability.

The stream and homepage tags are hardcoded for subsonic. I would like the capability to set them to my website.

I'm using Winamp with Subsonic and I get the artist and song-title presented in the player. The display mask is managed by Winamp itself in the General preferences tab.. Maybe this is what you're looking for?

The mask doesnt apply when it is playing a stream...only local/network mp3 files.

Hmm.. You are right.. Sorry about that.
I just tested altering the mask, but I still get the "Artist - Title ( Subsonic )"

It works perfectly for me though.. It updates whenever I change songs.

I'm running Subsonic 3.5.beta1 (build 561) on Fedora and Apache Tomcat/6.0.13 while all my media-files is mounted from a Windows XP on the local network

I assume you have filled in the mp3-tag on the songs?
Do you get any information in Winamp from the stream which is playing?

When I select the stream in the winamp playlist and click Alt-3 I get the following:

Stream: http://gecko/subsonic/stream?player=45&suffix=.Mp3
Network received: 1387632 bytes
Server: Apache-Coyote/1.1
Content-Type: audio/mpeg
Metadata received: 115 bytes
Metadata interval: 20480 bytes
Stream name: Subsonic
Current title: Foo Fighters - Everlooong

And the title bar apparently shows "<Current title> ( <Stream name> )" from the above..

Sorry...I guess I should've been more clear. I currently get the Artist - Title (Subsonic) tags just fine right now. I wanted to be able to display the "Album" tag in place of the "(Subsonic)" text, so that I would display like this:

Artist - Title (Album)
