Everyone is entitled to be stupid, Image but some abuse the privilege!

Due to the confusion from too many genres of music, we have decided to put both country music and rap music into the genre of Crap music.

That made me chuckle there, pewsey :-)

Agreed that's pretty straightforward -- has always worked on my server. Maybe Schishu was wanting FTP specifically? Would be rather odd in this day/age, but who knows. Or perhaps the the ability for a user to upload an artist/album directly into that artist/album's spot in SS, as opposed to merely being dumped in the "Incoming" folder.

Schishu, can you clarify what you're needing? the More->Upload solution provided in the previous post works, so long as you don't mind moving it later from Incoming to its proper spot in the folder structure.

BTW, you can have an artist and album show up in the proper locations now... if you create a zip file of the music in the proper folder structure and tell it to upload to the root of your music share and unpack zip files, it unpacks right into the directory structure.

For example (I just did this myself):

  • On the client machine, create a folder called "Phish"
  • Create a folder inside that called "~Live Recordings"
  • Create a folder inside that called "2011"
  • Create a folder inside that called "2011-08-08 - LivePhish.com Release - Hollywood Bowl, Hollywood, CA"
  • Place the music files in that last folder
  • Create a new zip file and drag the original "Phish" folder into it. This should compress the entire folder structure as-is.
  • Upload that zip file to your music share's root and check the option to unpack zip files.
