Please look into http://musixmatch.com/ for lyrics. They have a huge database, though its not free, maybe something somehow can be worked out. They do have an API.

I'm not sure if you're interested, but I've actually incorporated the musixmatch lyrics api into my modded version of Subsonic (viewtopic.php?f=8&t=8036)

You will need to sign up for your own API key, and it only returns 30% of the lyrics (due to copyright issues), but it does allow for commercial api keys to be bought and used which would allow for the full 100% lyrics.

Unfortunately the problem with obtaining 100% 'official' Lyrics is that copyright infringement issues prevent several sites from providing direct API access to full lyrics.

There are 'workarounds' which would scrape websites for lyrics, but this often violates terms of use and could lead to potential legal issues. double
