Subsonic for Android Tablet (HoneyComb)

Postby usindians » Wed Mar 09, 2011 1:05 am

Hi:
I am a long time user/donor of Subsonic. First off congrats! on such a wonderful app. I have been using your android app on my phone for about a year now and just love it. A week ago, i purchased the Motorola Xoom android tablet. While I have your subsonic on my tablet installed and working fine, i was wondering if you'll come out with a tablet version to exploit the screen size. Also, it would be helpful if you could include a video player instead of the web flash player.

thanks once again

I think one of the issues with the layout on the Xoom is just an exaggeration of the existing issue with the use of the space on the right hand side of the display in landscape mode... way too much of the screen real estate is given to the album cover (it's almost always close to square anyway) and not enough is given to the controls and song title. There would be plenty of space, but most of my song titles get truncated since so little of the right hand side was remaining.

I have an Acer Iconia A500 running Honeycomb coming this week. I'd love to see a Honeycomb optimized Subsonic app!

I would love to see this as well. I might even be moved to donate some more!

It should be relatively straightforward using fragments to do something like show some of the list/library stuff on the left and now playing on the right, for example.

What I would really like to be able to do is have the now playing and/or queue visible, while at the same time browsing my library to add things to the queue or select playlists, etc.

I would also like a version optimized for Honeycomb.

***EDIT: I found the SVN repo. Maybe I'll do some hacking...

It might be cool to put up a branch on Github where we can all work/collaborate towards a honeycomb version.

hi,need your advise on honeycomb and subsonic

Hi,
Sorry for my approximate English...French!
I have an issue with Acer A 500 tablet with honeycomb..
The issue is same either if i use the android application available on the market to stream through subsonic or either if i use direct browser..anyway subsonic use flash player in both cases..
After twenty minutes or so,the movie starts to lag and the picture becomes like a slow motion kind of movie even if the sound is okay..
I do not experienced this with orb steaming to my iphone...works perfect!
i do not understand what is going on..i have updated flash player, installs the very new ffmepg decoder etc.. with no change..I have also fixed my tablet ip in my router etc..no change..the frustrating part is that it works ok for twenty minutes and then start to dysfunction..
Any clues?
Any link?
Thank you!

Native Video playback on Android

Postby bigvalen » Mon Jun 20, 2011 9:26 pm

Any idea if Subsonic's Android app could ever do some sort of hardware accelerated video playback ? I've a load of 720p mkvs which look poor when downsampled to 500kps FLVs...

I often save some audio locally before I head out for the day. Any idea if you can do the same with video, or is always just live streaming ?

This happends with regular player also on low end pc's. Seems like if ui is called out more than 15 minutes after playback it will slow down the player. Atleast for me it seemed that if i had to pause the video or move mouse and the ui is shown then it will eventually be slow after 15 minutes of playback..but then i watch it without touching mouse then it works ok.
