Scrobble ALBUMARTIST if present, otherwise scrobble ARTIST?

Postby Newspeak » Sat Jan 28, 2012 3:18 am

For those of us who have completely-tagged music, with both ARTIST and ALBUMARTIST tags present, is there a way to change the functionality of scrobbling so that it first checks for the presence of ALBUMARTIST, ALBUM ARTIST, or BAND tags...and preferentially scrobble using any of those tags, before attempting to scrobble using ARTIST?

It stops me, and probably others, from getting entries under their Last.fm username that aren't parsed properly.

Hmm! and have all my music that is on compilation albums scrobbled with the value of "Various Artists"
I don't think so :?
There could be a case of using the composer tag when playing classical music however, but it needs to be a user choice option.
Everyone is entitled to be stupid, Image but some abuse the privilege!

Due to the confusion from too many genres of music, we have decided to put both country music and rap music into the genre of Crap music.

Ah, right, I forgot that exception. But that's easily fixable, if the existing logic I described in the first post exists; you just have an escape clause in the case that ALBUMARTIST contains "Various Artists", that submits using ARTIST instead.
