Transcoded files should retain metadata

I've been using Subsonic for a couple years now, and I love it to death. It's taken me this long to figure out a bug that makes using Subsonic on my phone suddenly very lame.

The issue comes from files that have been transcoded during streaming. When they are transcoded, all the metadata is stripped from them. So when I open up the same music from a different app, I've suddenly got a lot of Unknown Artists in my library.

So, is there a way to keep the metadata through the transcode?
