Cache Folder Location - Security Vulnerability

Postby text » Thu Feb 09, 2012 12:59 am

I would like to be able to change the cache folder location. Very straight forward. Of course, I could do this already by changing the cache folder for the browser. But that's like throwing the baby out with the bathwater. I would prefer to just change the cache folder where SS files are (temporarily) stored. This, coupled with SSL, will allow me to finally use Subsonic. As of right now, if I play music using Subsonic, I know that cache files of my individual songs are stored in the temp directory, later "deleted", though easily recovered by any authority. This is an unacceptable deal-breaker.

Thanks,

Alternatively, set the cache setting to a low number (eg. 750mb) and an entire song will never be downloaded.

I'm trying to find the cached files on my system. Could you please share where you found them?

That would depend on what OS you're running. But even if you found the folder, cache files are managed by the browser. Often they're deleted before you get a chance to securely erase them, leaving people vulnerable to file recovery tools.
