Allow Add Album to playlist without giving download access

Postby jonathanroz » Wed Mar 11, 2009 5:52 pm

I have noticed that if I create an account for someone and do not give them Download Access that when they are browsing music they lose a lot of options, like Add Album, Play Random, Play All etc...

I would like to be able to give access to some people without allowing them to download from my music collection. For example if a friend of a friend wants access I am fine with them listening to my music collection, but not downloading it.

Any way around this and if not can this be updated/fixed in future releases.

Thanks!!

Sindre,

I think this change fits in well with your plans to have an Anonymous user option added in 3.7.

I looked at the Demo site to see if there is any change, but you have download allowed so I am not sure if Anonymous will only be able to add a single song to a playlist at a time if they do not have download access.

Hi. I don't understand this. If you enable "User is allowed to play files" and disable "User is allowed to download files", then you should get exactly what you want.

Sindre,

I apologize. I deleted and recreated my "guest" user account and that seemed to fix it. Perhaps this is an issue I created myself when I copied the user table in the db.view when I moved from one server to another.

Thanks!

Sindre,

I guess I spoke to quickly. I cleared my cookie and logged back in with my guest account that does not have download abilities and again the links are gone.

I will PM you my login info and link.

Thanks!!

I do see that one of the accounts was set to party mode. I am going to go through and make sure none of the others are.

Do you know what SQL table that is stored in?

I do a "select * from player" and see that there is a Jukebox set to false, is it that or am I looking in the wrong table?
