Item Count in Link name on lists

Postby aphuey » Tue Mar 17, 2009 6:04 pm

This is a minor feature and might be more trouble than it's worth to add, but...

It would be really cool if on the links that appear in each listing, it indicated the number of albums contained in that artist folder or the number of songs in that album folder. In the left pane, you would probably want to indicate the number of albums by each artist, but in the main pane, when an artist is selected, you would want the number of songs that each album contained.

Something like 'The Dark Side of the Moon (9)'

My problem is I have some albums that only have one or two songs from an album and when users click on it, they think they are getting the whole album and they're frustrated when they get to the album and there's only one or two songs...

That said, if it's too much work for the small benefit, it's totally understandable. This continues to be the best streaming application around! Thanks!!

Agreed, that would be a nice feature.

However, the reason why it hasn't already has been implemented is performance. For instance, generating the artist list would require significantly more disk traffic - which would be very slow for large music collections on mounted disks.

Thanks,

Got it! One of the best things about Subsonic is the performance, when compared to how sluggish some of the other alternatives are. My library is just shy of 400 GB. I've been impressed with how Subsonic handles a library of that size. I'd take improved performance over that added feature any day.
