I would like to have an option to sort the albums within the artists by year (if tagged), not alphabetically.

Right now I am simulating this by naming album directories with the year prepended.

For that matter a search option for the year would be awesome too.

YES. All my albums are tagged very carefully but the folder names aren't. It would be nice to have proper id3 tag support when browsing too.

I second this. And I'd love a way to just see what year an album is while browsing (or does this already exist and I just don't know?)
