More sophisticated search abilities

I would love to see some increased functionality for conducting searches including:

1) The ability to define separate search criteria for the artist, album and song fields (ala subair - where the album field search doesn't work in my installation however)

2) The ability to define at least one or two other index fields based on the file tags. For those of us with extensive classical music collections, the inability to see the composer and conductor fields is a real drawback. I understand that indexing is based on the folder structure, but I can wish can't I?

Anything that improves the ability to search through (additional, perhaps user defined) ID3 tags would be great!

maybe a little info pop up with possible search operators would make searching more accessible too...who knows maybe the search is quite extensive, only noone knows about it

I agree completely! It would be fantastic to be able to search on (and show) some different tags - adding the set of tags to the configuration would be excellent for my needs (I would like to add composer both to search and the displayed columnsl, for example).

Having an 'advanced search' feature has been requested tons of times. Since people create new threads instead of searching the forum, I feel forced to copy and paste the same reply in a handful of threads to reach people subscribing to the topic.

I've just added an 'advanced search' interface to my Subsonic mod, see viewtopic.php?f=4&t=9777&p=50566#p50566.

It allows for combining some twenty different criteria when searching for tracks, browsing all results, and adding all of them for playback. The mod is documented at http://dilerium.se/musiccabinet/.
