I have just wasted a lot of time trying to understand why my standalone Linux installation of Subsonic wasn't working after I had carefully followed the Standalone Installation instructions
http://www.subsonic.org/pages/installation.jsp#standalone on the Subsonic website. FortunateIy I eventually found the instructions in the wiki
http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/subsonic/index.php?title=Linux_stand_alone, at which point I realised that the other instructions were extremely incomplete and broken. I suggest that you take the instructions off the website and link to the wiki instead to save other people this hassle

It would also be good to mention somewhere that Debian and Ubuntu are currently using avconv from the package libav-tools instead of ffmpeg - I also spent a while trying to track that down until I found a post in the forum explaining it.
