Subsonic server for Android stick devices

Postby Glitch » Tue Nov 19, 2013 9:00 am

Dear All,
because of the low price of these powerful devices like MK808B, Im curious about porting Subsonic to Android, using the device as a small server for music streaming.
Do you have a plan, even any solution for this topic?
I know, there is a way to install linux on MK808, but it would be very nice and easy to use an android version of the server for people like me, who lives this project, but not really a tech one.
Thank you in advance for your reply!

Not stupid at all! I've hit dev roadblocks on this topic, owing to their 'short-sightedness' insofar as Android is concerned. They view Android as limited to slow, portable devices run on battery and low storage capacity, as 99% of Android is indeed run on such hardware. Ouya and android sticks buck this trend, and even Google is renaming GoogleTV to AndroidTV, but even that is not enough to convince devs of the potential, the ubiquity of Android already (as clients) and the robustness of Android (ART is amazing!) as a PERFECT low-power, low resource server solution, particularly serving WAN-side. Here's some links to peruse while we wait on a perfect solution:
