Subsonic server for Android

Postby Jeyper » Wed Dec 17, 2014 10:21 am

Hi all,

I use an android box (octacore, 2Gb Ram, etc) by its low electric consumption and price, for magane all shared resources in my network.

Right now performs tasks vpn server, dlna and backup with rsync (server ultimate app).

I would like to retire my old linux server that only manages the subsonic server.

Are you planning release server version for android ? or you know some method for streaming my music library over the Internet without vpn?

Thank you!

Been seeking this for ages. There exists a technical roadlblock, referred to as the 'WAN Bridge' which must be overcome, which would likely need an update to Cling.

As a trial I managed to get subsonic server running on Android.
Streaming to clients works, but I can't get the jukebox to work. (doesn't seem to recognize the soundcard).

What I did:

- Installed Ubuntu on android by using http://linuxonandroid.org/
- Installed the java JRE + subsonic in it :)
- mounted my music share via cifs (nfs was not supported by my android kernel)

makes no sense unless you intend to run android on a PC as a server and if you want to do that then you might as well just use linux since Android is a derivative of linux anyhow.
