Better Cover Upload in Subsonic 6 Beta

Postby deejay2302 » Mon Mar 21, 2016 9:41 pm

What i miss is the Cover Upload from Harddrive or another Hoster (Amazon, Discogs, etc.) The problem is, subsonic can not find the most album covers on LastFM. For example: Bravo Hits Vol.92, Future Trance Vol.75 or others.

Good is... The cover feature works better as in all other subsonic versions :) Thats great!

well, if you can find the url, you can paste it in, which is exactly what what I generally was doing during the interim after google had killed the image search api.

i'd guess there isn't really file upload because generally, since it is your own file system/computer, you can just copy the jpeg file into the right folder directly.

Thats the problem. Normally i have a lot of album covers in my folders. Back Cover, Front Cover, CD cover etc. Subsonic grabs any image! To change that, I have to upload somewhere and then manually add the appropriate image. When masses of albums, the cost is very high. I therefore hope that returns the file upload function. And the false image is once activated, it can not be changed by I put a new picture in the folder. Since Subsonic image files caches somewhere. Also manually delete from the Pictures folder (C:/subsonic/thumps) does not work. : - /

The cache issue has been generally resolved in 6.0b1, at least in my experience. And there is a priority order in which image it will use based on file name, but I can't remember exactly where I read what that is, and I've no time to dig through the source code right now).

But yeah, I see your point. By routing through the UI, it absolutely sets the file in the folder with the correct name that is first in priority order (the Cover.jpg or cover.jpg file I think), so by having the UI do an upload rather than just a web url fetch in the same way, you can be assured it will name it correctly.

When masses of albums which is rather difficult. And requires a lot of preparatory work. Unfortunately, this is a bad solution. The Hard Drive upload option I found better.^^ I welcome present that the cover-functional working again. There was in the older versions constantly problems. :)

Being able to save covers into tags through the web interface would be great as well, right now pretty much all of my album art is embedded, so it'd work better with my existing setup. Cheers.

There are tedious ways to get the proper coverart in Subsonic beta 6, but I agree that it just should be possible to point to a local musicfolder to grab the coverart that's already inside that folder.
I really don't see the point to go and search on the internet for coverart I allready have. I also guess I'm not the only one around who has compiled his own albums with favorite songs and made a sort-of-coverart for that album.
If Subsonic doesn't get that coverart when scanning the musicfolders you definetly have a problem.
Thanks to another user on this forum I found that you can "force" Subsonic to re-index folders by disabling them in your settings, do a scan, clean up your database, re-enable the folder(s) and then rescan your folders.
But that's not really what we want, is it ?
