For subsonic subsribers it is posible to share a stream/song to a friend with http://username.subsonic.org

Since i'am using https and do not want my url to be username.subsonic.org but just mydomain:port I cannot use this feature. Can this feature be enabled for other urls than .subsonic?

You can replace the subsonic.org domain with yours before you send the link to get around this.

Could someone please send a complete link to a fictional domain for song on a non Subsonic.org domain, so we might see the entire syntax used for these supposed links... Cause so far nothing I've tried works..

Also a request, it would be nice to be able to send such links to ' NON-MEMBERS ' to perhaps get them interested the Subsonic system..
If the links do actually work,, I will setup a temporary status member on my system and use that to send to my NON MEMBER friends...

The new (to 5.3 beta) custom url feature might probably support this use case.

There's not a lot of documentation around it, but I presume that if it is on, the x.subsonic.org domain will not work (it is a radio button, one or the other), and you are required to ensure that your domain name resolves: the subsonic.org root won't just magically create a cname entry on your behalf.

Using our own domains, not a Subsonic domain.

I thought perhaps creating a bogus user and sending links via that user, but am unable to find the correct URL syntax to a song.

Not sure we're talking about the same thing.
I'm suggesting a method of linking (via a concocted user login name) to a song available on the server, not on an app.
The apps are on our phones, ipod touch, tablets.. I am not suggesting for a user to connect to my phone..
(Whether it be Mac, Windows or Linux, I believe they all run programs. App is not a short form for program. certainly not after having been a programmer.)

Then the song could be played on whatever player is available on the computer or the handheld device, where an app is not required, perhaps the person may have to select the player.

if there is no way to route this function currently, then please make this and all the previous requests, the suggestion to let's do this !!

I knew what you meant, and I used the term 'app' for the UI, even though it doesn't use the same API underneath. It was short for application, which is what it has meant for my entire 25 years of professional software development. I meant what I said. It is a web application, hosted by a Java service.

I also meant what I said when I said the iframe nature of how the main app works will make it very difficult to add that kind of routing. The way that the UI divides up what is going on in iframes means that there are multiple 'states' which can't be easily represented in a single route to get to a single song in the player. The architecture just doesn't work that way.

Now I could add such a feature to my own app (a web SPA app that is also a PWA for Android and Chrome) at some point, which does have precision routing already for getting to music directories, artists/albums, and playlists. I need to have that kind of precision anyways for other purposes (a coming playlist editor), but I'm in a code freeze on that while i get back to working on the new version of the TV version for the Amazon Fire, which has gotten very out of date.
