Use XBMC to connect to a Subsonic server

Postby triom » Sat Feb 13, 2010 11:04 pm

Is this already possible?

If not, I think it would be a great feature to consider adding. For example, my brother (who lives across town) has a Subsonic server running. I want to add his Subsonic server (using the username/password he created for me) as a Music source on my XBMC.

This is kind of tricky actually. Subsonic I think is merely intended to serve music over HTTP and not implement something like the UPnP protocol. You need something more like TVersity or http://www.nero.com/enu/mediahome4-introduction.html

Talk with the XBMC community about a script to use the API

The only way I see this working is if an XBMC script is written to interact with the Subsonic API. You could suggest this on the XBMC forums and see if there isn't some more interest there.
