According to that article they started on that project over two years ago.

No wonder it didn't work out for them.

Oh, you mean it's so much better now that it's taking the world by storm?

I've been hearing about the wonders of HTML5 for quite a few years, including from Sindre, and still have yet to see anything.

Starting to smell like vaporware to me.

I'd actually be very happy if Subsonic just integrated VLC into everything and be done with the whole transcode stuff. VLC just plays everything you throw at it. Why not just use SS to pass everything to VLC? It can be embedded into a website and also has an Android version.

So, is there any way right now to watch videos using Subsonic on Android without a Flash player installed?

I think they've been doing some work on this with the Dsub app.

I haven't looked at it in depth, but I think they've made progress getting the app to call an external player on the phone that can handle more video formats. Take a look over there.

You can install flash on android by side loading or just installing the APK but I believe you need to also use the old stock browser which also no longer is available out of the box on android
