Android app feature requests

basically the only time i use stored MP3's is when i am not in a 3g area. AT&T probably hates me and this app as it has easily increased the amount of data i use in a month 10-20x I love it

Just wanted to add another vote for an exit/stop download type feature. As of now, if I stop streaming through subsonic and forget to separately shut down the app, downloading the playlist is really a battery drain, as well as an unnecessary use of bandwidth.
Overall, great app! Thanks.

Another great addition would be a widget for the phone homescreen. Even a simple one to merely pause/play.

Please add a feature so that you can change what music folder you access. I have 1637 artists now and it's tedious to pick something to play on my phone.

Firstly Great App!! Bought my andriod phone because of it!

Requests:

+1 remote jukebox
+1 exit button
+1 que button ( maybe you can squeese it in between "play" and "more" or maybe have it show up in landscape view)
+1 for widget
+1 automatic cash management (Perhaps an adjusteble upper limit)

Refresh: Refresh my music. I have an isue if musik is added, when i have the app running. it doesn't show up on the list.

Whats the latest on the Android app? I use subsonic+android app+subair on a daily basis so I am curious about any potential improvements.

Not sure if this has been mentioned before. But i'd like to see the now playing tune on the android app turn up in the now playing section of the subsonic web interface. At the moment this only happens for un-cached music. This would allow last.fm scrobbling and better overall statistics for the most frequent/recent tunes in the subsonic app.

I realise that the cached music is to allow offline playing in the android app, but when there is a data connection, it would be nice to show what is currently being played from android. It can be achieved by deleting the cache but that seems a bit bandwidth intensive just to get usage stats.

Perhaps it's just me, but I want to request a version that doesn't freezes all the time.... I tried the app on a HTC Magic. And with a lot of waiting (minutes) I got it playing a folder that was close to the root folder. It always times out on deeper folders, and search doesn't work at all (the app crashes after 2 minutes of waiting).

I ran subsonic 3.9, and the android app from that time. The subsonic database is rather large (+100K). But searching etc in the Webapp goes perfect.

Is the current version better?

(P.S. The Adobe Air app has comparable problems)

I think it would be beneficial if two things happened regarding problems with rapid-scrobbling when using the app...

1.) Disable Subsonic's scrobbling when using the Android app.

2.) Make the Subsonic Android app compatible with Last.FM/other scrobbling functions.

This way songs will only scrobble when they are actually played, and it'll show that you're listening from Android in your last.FM profile, as if that is important.

Maybe an exit button isnt really a good idea. I think it might go against how android is designed to operate and maybe a function to simply stop playlist/queue downloads would be better.

1. Support for buttons on my bluetooth headset ( Sony MW600 ) it only works when screen is on and when you are inside subsonic app right now.
2. Long press album should show que album aswell as play
3. Cache management, my sdcard does fill upp some times

I'd also like a feature to allow users to set their own bitrate, but only lower or equal to what the admin has set. Now I have users using two account depending on if they're using a phone app or the web interface/subAir.

Having released Subsonic 4 a couple of weeks ago, I'm just about to start working on an update of the Android app.

I haven't yet decided exactly what to put into it, but I will prioritize usability improvements and bug fixes over new features (although I do intend to add shuffle play).
