Gapless Playback

I thought about the 2-audio tag idea for gapless myself. I hadn't implemented it because there are still bugs in the Android Chrome-based WebView used in FireOS, bugs resolved in Chrome 50 for Android but may take several months before that version becomes the WebView base for FireOS. However, for just Desktop browsers, it should work close enough.

Listening to "The Wall" you really notice this.
If implementing a gapless feature was at the expense of longer startup to play and was a option by "album" or defined playlist that would be great feature to have!

Noticed a major gap when casting to a chromecast audio device. Looking into it further, it looks like gapless control must come from the player implementation (https://code.google.com/p/google-cast-s ... id=745#c21).

The suggestion by the google devloper is to utilize media source extensions (MSE) to implement gapless playback. I think if this is implemented by the subsonic player with html5 audio, it would mean gapless playback for both the web player as well as something like the chromecast that receives audio from subsonic.

There's a newer issue in the Google bug tracker for Chromecast: https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/36191370

It seems Google is backing away from the Media Source Extension "solution" to gapless playback, and promoting it to be a thing that is to be supported directly by the cast devices without a significant implementation burden in each and every app that wanted to support gapless casting.

So there is hope it will make it into an actual release any decade now
