Hi Sindre,

I have two requests!
A button that deletes .complete from the end of all downloaded files, so that they can be easily seen by the standard android music library.

Also, along with random album, a true random song button.

Great update by the way! I don't know how a cartoonist like myself could help you in some way, but if you think of something, run it by me!

Huge regards,
Chad

I'd like to see a quit/kill option. I'd like to tell the app to stop downloading my playlist if I'm done listening to music... and/or I'd like to force kill the app when I don't need it for a while.

I often have to kill it manually to stop the "Error Downloading" notifications.

Not sure if this has been mentioned already, but I'd like to see the Now Playing screen behave a little differently.

For instance, if I turn off the screen on the phone, when I turn it back on I'm all the way at the top of the list of songs I've downloaded. Having it snap to the song currently playing (or paused) would be nice. Also, a way to more quickly/easily navigate on this page. Maybe something similar to the way the scrollbar works in the Browse screen where you can scroll more quickly through large amounts of tracks.

The whole starting at the top of the playlist every time you bring the player back up or turn the screen back on is the most annoying thing by far though.

A few features that I need.

Jump to currently playing now track. When switching from playing now to playing now playlist I need the app to jump to the track that is currently playing. When at a stop light sometimes I only have a few seconds to switch songs. When a playlist contains dozens of songs I can end up wasting those few seconds scrolling

Ability to reorder songs on playing now playlist by long press, drag and drop

Windows explorer folder view...please please please. Having all my music thrown into a single bucket is frustrating. On the left side of the Subsonic browser version is a drop down arrow to select the folder you wish to view. This would be a perfect alternative to a windows explorer view. Can you incorporate this into the android app? Below are my music library stats.
50,804 artists
25,293 albums
207,104 songs
1637.34 GB (~ 25,435 hours)

Option to save and reload playing now playlists. It would be nice if this was done automatically. The ''recently played'' shortcut is nice however that includes the music listened to by my subsonic guest users.

An exit application button. With the latest update the android app is no longer shutting down after the music has stopped. Hours later after the last song played the play button icon is sitting in the notification tray.

*Edit* Also swipe gestures are needed. swipe left to go back one song. swipe right to skip to the next song.

Thank you

Sindre-

Love the random track setting in the latest client!

I would like to see a way to exit the app as well. Prior to this latest client update (without the shuffle), I don't remember seeing the 'Play' icon in the notification area, now it's there all the time.

Also, I had an issue with my server at home (while I was not there to fix it), so I pulled up the default player in Android to listed to some music that was still on my SD card. I discovered that it has some basic controls (Next, play/pause, Previous) that appear at the lock screen. If you could figure out how to implement that, it would be fantastic! (Forgive me if that's been asked for already - just got the phone a week ago and still learning...)

Keep up the good work!

Album Art/Landscape

Postby mnksauce » Fri Jul 16, 2010 12:45 am

I have 2 request

1. Album Art in offline mode
I noticed that with the new(ish) offline mode does not handle album art too well. In fact, it seems that it doesn't handle album art at all.
Could you include a way for the downloader to download a folder.jpg then display it when in offline mode or for it to read the ID3 tags for album art?

2. GUI in landscape mode
Landscape mode critically reduces usable space. Is it possible to redesign the GUI in landscape mode to make it more efficient?

Thanks for all the hard work,
Ivan

Sindre,

I am having issues with the media control keys, as described here. It looks like it can be fixed by using the audio focus API in android 2.2.

Do you have plans to add support for the audio focus api in the near future? If you don't have time, I am willing to take a look and submit a patch to at least make the remote buttons work correctly, and perhaps fully support audio focus.

widget

Hello Sindre!

I would also like to see a widget for the Android app. A simple Pause/Play would be good, but if it could also display the current song title and give ability to jump to the next track, it would be fantastic!

Thanks for all your hard work!

Need to specify root folder for cache/downloads

Postby happy_red » Wed Jul 21, 2010 11:16 pm

I've just upgraded from a G1 to a Galaxy S and Subsonic can't find my music on my sd card. This is because the Galaxy S has 8GB of built in storage and adds the sd card as a 'sd' folder in the file system of its storage.

Could you add a new feature to configure the root folder for Subsonic so I can point it at the new sd card location? I don't want to us the built in memory as it is smaller than my sd card.

If you need any info on file structures or someone to debug for you, give me a shout.
Thanks.

I don't fully understand this. Subsonic should save music on the SD card, no matter if it's mounted as "/sd", "/sdcard" or anything else.

In which directory is Subsonic saving files on your Galaxy?

Thanks Sindre for looking into this.

The sd card I took out of the G1 had the usual 'subsonic' folder on it. When I got the Galaxy S, I installed the app and put in the sd card from the G1. I started the Subsonic app and no music was listed (in offline mode).

It would seem that the Galaxy S mounts its own 8GB built in memory area (not its' RAM) as an sd card (/sdcard) and creates a folder within that called 'sd', in which it loads the contents of the physical sd card. Subsonic couldn't find the music from the G1 because its' folder location was /sdcard/sd/subsonic. Subsonic was looking for /sdcard/subsonic, couldn't find it, so created a new empty one.

I have to add that this is an issue for a couple of other programs that can't find data - like CoPilot. I've had to copy the CoPilot maps to the 8GB storage area. I would do the same with the Subsonic cache and downloads, but there isn't enough space (my sd card is 16GB and has 11GB of music).
