Party mode

Hi

I have a fetaure i have been looking for in media players for a long time.
A party mode for use when many people add items to the playlist (like at a pary or any other social gathering....)

i would like it to work like this:
- The logged in user enables "Party mode" under player settings, preferably with his password.
- All the "play" and "download" symbols either dissapears or is disabled.
- Its only possible to add individual songs to playlist (not albums or directories)
- You can only add 1 song pr xx seconds (maybe 5 seconds)
- Not possible to delete, or skip songs and playlist.
- And all this user selectable for the player

This would be fantastic! I have never seen any software with this!

(Consider this my Christmas wish...)

I would really love this feature too! Actually i use DSD Jukebox in my party room and this is the only reason why i keep one Windows installation in my house. I installed Subsonic on my server one week ago and i am beginning to love it (stil have to add ~100 cds of mp3s though). I would love to use Subsonic as the central application for both aspects, managing my collection (including playback all over the house) AND having a jukebox at parties.

According to eivindcom's post, i would love to see two features of DSD Jukebox included:
- you can configure a max length for the playlist, so people can only add further songs, if one track has ended and left the playlist
- random mode when playlist is empty, so music won't stop if your guest forget to add songs

I've added a simple party mode in 3.4. It simplifies the user interface and helps avoiding accidential messing up the playlist. I'll also consider implementing a random mode if the playlist is empty.

Wow, that's good news! Thanks for your work! Maybe you could consider the max playlist length feature too? Imagine one of your guests selecting a lot of songs (ten or more) could be very annoying to the others, since they would have to wait a lot of time until their selections would be played. Just think about it...
