Streaming Server via MMS
Posted: Fri Dec 21, 2007 7:27 pmIt would be a nice feature to support mms streaming outside the use of Internet TX/Radio (which is meant more for external streaming servers). I have a local 2003 media server, where my audio and video are located, but Subsonic only uses http to connect (I could update the playlists manually). It would be easy to add to the Setup Music Folders an URL path for each folder path (which would could contain nothing, implying http as normal or a mms streaming path, which could be combined with the file name an play or playlist creation time).
I have tried to use streaming via VLC, but have run into proxy problems.
I like media Server better because of the granular control of resource for the streams along with other enterprise features. In addition I encode each wmv with multiple bitrates and qualities and I don't know if VLC supports this; windows media player does.
