Update the webplayer playlist when adding songs

Postby andemann » Fri Feb 01, 2008 9:05 am

Probably not possible using the current webplayer, but it would be nice if the playlist in the webplayer was idendical to the on in subsonic.
A separate frame for the player would be nice aswell, fewer open windows.

One possible solution
Use the webplayer just to play a stream from subsonic and handle all playlists serverside by sending a continious stream to the player.

Yeah, I've tried that, but the (third-party) flash player has no maximum buffer size, so it buffers the entire playlist. When running the player and the server on the same machine this causes excessive CPU and I/O usage.

Here's a question Sindre. Can you load a playlist and then set it to start at a specific song?

Ok what I'm getting at if you can do this is simply when a play or add to playlist is done while in the flash player, reload the entire list and if play start at the first and if add to playlist reload and return to the previous song it was at when it reloads the new playlist.

Is that possible? I know its ugly but be better than having to completely restart the web player and then manually go to the song it was at like is happening now.

I don't think that's possible, I'm afraid. By the way, here's the player that I use: http://musicplayer.sourceforge.net/
