Hi,

I have a very large music database and whilst I am on my travels I come across songs that I would never want to hear again & am using Subsonic as I only want to maintain one music database, is it possible to delete a song permanently from the hard drive as I can never remember the songs by the time I get home... if not can this feature be added please?

Many Thanks

It's been suggested before, but the majority seems to be against it for security reasons.

Yah I'm sorry but I would probably never upgrade if that was given as an option. I don't want anyone to ever have the ability to remotely delete my files through a third party service like this.

maybe a compromise would be to mark a song for deletion somehow? a negative mark if you will? I have been deleting songs as I go for a long time now using PowerAmp or PlayerPro, Gonemad etc but am changing to a Nexus 7 which cannot hold my entire music collection (Currently on an Archos 80 G9 with 1TB Disk) so looking for an alternative....

Oh wait, do you just mean deleting the cached version that is on your device? You don't need to delete the song on the server to free up room on your device (in fact deleting the song on the server wouldn't delete it on your device anyways). There is an option when view the songs from the Library tab to delete the local cache. If you are looking for a way to delete the cache from the now playing menu then that appears to sadly be missing from the Subsonic version of the app. I think in the other thread you posted about this (I can't find it now, am I going crazy?) you mentioned you had bought DSub which has an option called Delete Cache which can be accessed from the long press menu on the Playing tab.

If you are not using the Favorite stars for anything else, you *could* use it to tag tracks that you want to delete when you get back home. Tagging a track as favorite can be done from the 'Now playing' part of the android player.

Why not just remote into your computer with something like ssh?

That can be done of course, but if you are driving for a long trip, and use the Android Subsonic app, you probably have forgotten which song that was the one that did not work when you again can take a pause from the driving and get to a computer.

But in the Android Subsonic app, you pretty easily can mark a song as a favorite, so when you then can get to a computer, you pretty easily can spot the bad song in there and then deal with it.

But that will be harder to do if you actually do use the favorites for what it is meant for. :-)
