Remote Control Subsonic app from another Android device

Please make it possible to control Subsonic app from another Android device remotely over WiFi/Bluetooth. The basic functionality would be to be able to go to next/previous track.

Use case:

Say you have a tablet that connects to your stereo via minijack, which is used to play music (either offline or online from a Subsonic server). Then instead of always going to the stereo/tablet to change a song, you could connect your phone to the tablet (remotely, either over WiFi or Bluetooth) and use it to control the music playing on the tablet.

Also of course you could use a tablet to control an Android phone - and vice versa.

P.S. I'm not talking about controlling the Subsonic server. I'm talking about controlling the Subsonic app (which controls the server).

Please comment to show support for this.

I support this request.

I can see my house (and many others) filled with old Android phones and/or little $35 Android devices.

So to replace my somewhat dodgy Orb puck devices I would love to plug an old Android phone into my amp, and remotely tell it to play music from another Android device or Subsonic web browser page.

And Im not just thinking, next/prev track but the whole hog:
    Add/remove songs in current playlist
    Volume control
    Streaming radio
    Multi-device playback (party mode)
Can Subsonic do this already or is it do-able?

If you connect the audio output of the Subsonic Server to your amp, you can just run it in jukebox mode. Then the Subsonic Android App is effectively a remote control.

I would dearly like to see this kind of abillity in Subsonic as well.
Here is a post with my thoughts on a way to do it, there may be simpler or better ways,
but the goal is much the same; to have multiple users sharing the listening experience, or the same person moving from device to device and able to pickup where they left off.

I'vw been posting for mobillity and multi-user for a while, look here:
