Hi, Im from PerĂº!

I've been using Subsonic for more than two years, is an excellent utility when streaming from anywhere in the world. The tool currently considered necessary would be to implement a photo server. I mean if we wanted to see some pictures from our PC we could connect in the same way as we do with our music collection. Greetings from Peru!

I think photo sharing would be nice, but for me to even consider using it I would need an access control system to the shares similar to what Madsonic does so I could avoid sharing pictures with people who shouldn't see them.

I don't really think subsonic is the best system for this though. It has the network infrastructure to support it perhaps, but you want to be able to upload new pictures, tag, categorize, label with dates, etc. Subsonic is for sharing stuff you have already managed. I'm sure there are great applications for managing a photo collection already so I don't think Sindres time is best spent on that when there is a huge gap in streaming media which Subsonic is only beginning to fill.

Perhaps this is a task better suited for a modder, integrating an already exisiting photo management system into subsonic probably wont be too hard.

The right tool for a task.

Sharing photos is a completly different problem. Try Piwigo, an open-source project too.
