I know I've been asking this one for a few years now, though I'm hoping that the devs. have developed more humane feelings towards Android in the meantime :) . Any way we could see the server side of Subsonic ported to Android any time soon please?

I love this idea, but, I am curious as to how you would implement it, at least, in a way that doesn't utilize DLNA or UPnP.

Maybe you'll give me an idea I hadn't yet thought of. ;)

Alright, problem solved. No more begging for streaming Android servers in all corners of the Internet. All I need is an Android FTP server (plenty of those around), and a playback client with FTP support. Whew! It was so simple!

Btw, does the Subsonic Android client do playback from FTP links?

Interesting..what apps/solutions did you decide upon?

Servers Ultimate for the FTP server part, and ES File Explorer for the client. Still exploring alternatives to the latter though.

Nice. Keep us posted on any quality apps that can do the job. I'm also entertaining the concept of placing all music/vids into the cloud (pogoplug has unlimited storage for $29 for the first year, $49 annually thereafter) but their pogo app player is very rudimentary...needs a lot of work to make it Subsonic/Ultra/DSub like. :)
