Would love to know if and how we could get Subsonic working with Chromecast. SDK is available here:
https://developers.google.com/cast/Should work with the Chrome extension, but would be great to have it built into the Android app so I could browse my media library and then throw it up on the screen.

Yes! I bought one, and I think they're going to be very popular, and the API looks good so far. I'm a ruby developer. I'd love to help, but Subsonic is written in... PHP, probably?

I bought one as well (backordered on Amazon, but I will wait to not pay shipping/tax). I just built a Raspberry Pi HTPC, but having Netflix on the same device would be great.

+1 for this feature.
Would be a great addition to the Subsonic Android / iOS App.

I too would love to see this work for chromecast. It shouldn't be that far a stretch to add it in.
I bought 2 already. Plex and other apps have already announced they will be adding support.

The server side is written in Java and jsp and the android client is written in Java.
With chromecast, you modify the Android client to enable casting the stream to your tv. It has nothing to do with the web interface of subsonic.

If you go to the download page they explicitly say are not allowed to post the source online if you use the SDK, which instantly kills the possibility since Subsonic is a GPL project

"If you wish to discuss shipping your apps, please write us at
chromecast-updates@google.com"
It wouldn't hurt to ask. I wonder what kind of apps they want to bar...

Got my chromecast and tried it out using chrome tab casting on my macbook... full-screen video in subsonic fullscreens well on chromecast, the only problem is quite a bit of jitter. Here's hoping they work that out.

I don't know about lime-light, but I would love it if dsub or any subsonic app developer would look into this. Casting a tab works fine with Jamstach/MiniSub/Subsonic, but doing this from an app would be lovely.

I have looked into it. Right now Google is not allowing anyone but their select partners to actually use the SDK in a public app.

Lime-light as in: How cool would it be for Subsonic to appear here:
http://www.google.com/intl/en/chrome/devices/chromecast/apps.html Alongside those others!
