Automatic playlist backups
Posted: Tue Oct 22, 2013 11:46 amFor the second time in the last year or so I have experienced DB corruption with Subsonic, in the form of most albums, songs, etc. mysteriously disappearing from the database. I don't blame Subsonic for that (it was probably a product of a full drive in both cases), but there has been a painful side effect - most entries in my playlists have been deleted (probably because Subsonic thought the songs were gone from the drive), which has made most of them unusable.
Since (from 4.7 onwards) the playlists are stored in the database, there is no way for me to recover the original song list. And, even though most other settings stored in the DB can be recovered by replaying the Subsonic script, playlists aren't there (I can see why, but that doesn't make it less inconvenient
). Thus, I think that doing periodic backups of the playlists to .m3u or some similar format would probably be a good idea.
