Converting to mp3 the songs you want to download

One feature that would really enhance Subsonic would be - IMHO - the possibility to convert to mp3 - or not - the songs you want to download.
I use a mp3/wma player - not an iPod - and I've got a lot of AAC (m4a) files.
So whenever I want to put them on my player (as well as other types such as flac or OGG Vorbis), I have to convert them manually to mp3.
I already made a bash script to do that, but it would be perfect if it was a feature included in Subsonic.
I think that it's a feature that exists in iTunes, but I don't use it.
I've been using the webplayer extensively due to proxy restrictions at my job, switched (thanks again, zeekay!) to JW FLV Player, and now I don't use a local player anymore.
That way, Subsonic would be able to do whatever actions I need to do with the files of my music collection.
I think that the best way to integrate that feature, would be to add a per user setting - not a global one.
Every user would be able to chose whenever or not they want to use it.
