Crossfading

I love subsonic, I'm in the process of setting up my own and going to get a sub. One thing that I really desperately want is cross-fading though.

I would also like settings for crossfading, such as how long the crossfade lasts (in milliseconds perhaps).

My understanding is that if you were to set a crossfade duration of 5000ms that means 2500ms left in the song the crossfade would start, and the next song would be fully faded in after 5000ms from that time.

I'm thinking maybe make it so you can have cross-fade as a toggle so all songs crossfade when it's on, but also maybe "play next with cross-fade" as an option somewhere too in the event cross-fade is off but you want it used for a single transition.

Maybe this could be used for video too? :P That might be asking a bit much, but would be kinda neat for vjing ;o

Id love to see Crossfading too, but I'll go one step farther, and rather than there be a set amount of milliseconds to always cross fade, I'd love it if there was an intelligent crossfader like the Winamp/MediaMonkey plugin "Advanced Crossfader by SqrSoft".

An Advanced crossfader "listens" to the song and waits for an ideal time to begin the crossfade. If the song you are listening to gradually fades out for the last 30 seconds, an advanced crossfader will wait until the dB drops below a certain point and kick in with maybe 10 seconds remaining in the previous track. But if the song you are playing is one that abruptly ends, there is no fade, and the next song starts immediately.

For anyone curious about this, try it in either Winamp or MediaMonkey (MM can use Winamp plugins). It works really well and if you are playing a mix for a party, it sounds really professional.
