Visible Player Controls while Android Device Locked

Really been enjoying subsonic features while away from home.
I do have something that would be cool to add to the Android interface. I've installed the Beta version of VLC for playback of local files, and liked the mini-controls it displays while the phone is locked. The panel features stop, forward, and reverse buttons, as well as the artist and track title. This is a great feature as one does not have to login to the device to use the controls or view the track/artist info.
Can this be added to the Subsonic Android app?
