Hi @all,

it would be nice to implement the possibility of sorting the Audio Files by ID3 Tag, like the Mod Musiccabinet, in the next major Release.
it's pretty nice, because then, you don't bother anymore about in which way you save files on your drive.

@Sindre: Is it possible to add this "feature"?

Greetings

Dear Santa.
This is it, build my media library from meta-data, load extra information from external source; e.g music-brainz, last.fm or metal-archives.

Thanks.

This would be absolutely lovely. I just dropped using MusicCab and I am in such mixed feelings about it since my file structure is absolutely random and holds thousands of albums. :?

Keep in mind, I'm not asking to remove sorting by folder structure but adding the option to turn on tag sorting instead.

The API supports it, but I'm not sure how much work it would be to utilize it in the main UI. I do intend to add it to SubFire, but not sure which other clients support it.

Musiccabinet did. It's been left to collect dust but maybe you can use some of it (MusicCab also had "radio" playlist shuffles and some other neat functions that have only been partially picked up by vanilla Subsonic.
