Keep Playlists Regardless if Media Found

Postby jps2041 » Wed Sep 24, 2014 4:51 pm

If for some reason my files gets moved, then any reference to those songs in any playlist will get removed. I would much prefer to keep the entire playlist in tact and have it show "file not found" at the very least.

This way I can see which files are not found and rebuild it manually at the very least, instead of just having all my playlists wiped out.

What I tend to do is pour all my new music into an unsorted directory and then the files get moved upon sorting, I would love to be able to keep my playlists in tact during this process.

This is also a problem if your hard drive is remote on your LAN and has a problem: an automatic scan will basically wipe out all files and in doing so, wipe out the playlists which will then need to be reconstructed after a later successful scan.

This appears to no longer be an issue as of 5.0. I was having the same problem, and now I know longer do.

The only way to wipe the playlists when the file/folders are 'empty' (or have been significantly changed) is to click the "Clean Up Database" option.
